TD THEME - Where we are in place and time Central Idea - Explorations can lead to discoveries, opportunities, challenges and new understandings. Key Concepts – Form, Function and Reflection Assessments, summatives! Exams! What do they bring to mind? Pen and paper, nerves, tension, stress... At DPSI, it’s none of these. Our students design games to display their understanding. Students of grade 5 designed a Snakes and Ladder game as part of their summative assessment for the recently completed unit on systems. The ladders reflected when systems worked well and the snakes reflected how things slowed down when a system doesn’t work well. The students worked with enthusiasm and confidence while displaying their creativity and designed the game using their thinking skills. We have now embarked on a new journey of discoveries and explorations. Using the visible thinking strategy of I see, I think, I wonder, students tuned into their new unit and observed three images relevant to explorations and later penned down their thoughts.
