TD THEME – How we express ourselves Central Idea – Technology is the language that can be used for human expression Key Concepts – Form, Function and Perspective After the restful break, students engaged in their learning with renewed vigor. They were tuned into their new unit ‘Communication Technology’ through an activity wherein the students recreated the drawing only through the verbal instructions given by their partner. The objective behind the activity was to understand the importance of communication and the difficulties faced . Further, they brainstormed on the evolution of communication technology and presented through a mind map. Students also discussed the different forms of technology and segregated them under three different headings: audio, audio-visual and text. They also researched on the companies which provide us with services such as emails, social media and communication apps. In Hindi, students discussed the different types of communication and changes in medium of communication. They also watched and listened to the poem 'Ek maa kee bebasi' by Rajesh Joshi. They also answered the questions based on the poem. They read the science fiction story ‘ve di bhi kya din the' and discussed the same with their peers. In ICT, students used tagul.com to create a word cloud on communication in 21st century. They identified the advantages and disadvantages of expressing themselves using technology. In English, students were assessed for their prior knowledge of prefixes and suffixes which was followed by a class discussion. Going further, they did loud reading of the novel ‘Oliver Twist’ and identified affixes and compound words. They also read an essay and identified the elements of an essay. Students got an opportunity to meet Deepak Dalal, the author of 'Talon the Falcon' and 'A Flamingo in My Garden In Math, students made a fact sheet on fractions as a part of their prior knowledge assessment. They learnt identifying and creating equivalent fractions. Further, they learnt to convert mixed numbers into improper fractions and vice versa. They also learnt to compare and order unlike fractions.
In Hindi Ab initio, students shared their experiences of activities done and trips undertaken during their winter break. The classes were very interactive wherein the students asked each other a variety of questions related to each other's experiences enhancing their verbal as well as comprehension skills.They revisited the concept of 'vilom shabd' by speaking and writing words along with self-drawn images for better understanding. The same was reinforced through a sentence making activity. In Spanish, students revised the verb ‘SER’ with its uses and learnt a new verb ‘ESTAR’. Students further gained knowledge by differentiating between the two verbs. In French, students learnt the conjugation of 'avoir' verb (to have). They played online games based on the conjugation of the verb such as match making and concentration. They also learnt the pronunciation of the verb through songs. The focus was laid on the core work outs in the Dance lessons. Students had a discussion on different effects of technology on dance. They also learnt the choreography on old school hip-hop. The students practiced batting and bowling skills in Cricket . They also played inter class short sided matches.
